The Spaulding for Children
Healthy Families Secondary Prevention Program
The Spaulding for Children Healthy Families Secondary Prevention Program receives Secondary Prevention Funds from the State of Michigan with oversight from the Children’s Trust Fund. Currently, we are a 3-tierd program. Funding is for the Wayne and Macomb 0 to 3 Program as well as the Osborn Community Collaborative Prevention Pilot Program (OCC-PP). All programs provide home visitations, family support services, child development screenings and referrals, parent education workshops and linkages to community resources to low-income families. Services are provided to families that reside in Wayne and Macomb counties, are pregnant and/or have at least one child from birth to age 47 months. The OCC-PP extends the same services to families with children 0-18 who live in the Osborn community 48205, 48224, 48208, 48211, 48212, 48213, 48214, 48215, 48225, & 48234 zip codes.
The goals of service are to assist parents in acquiring the knowledge, skills and resources to ensure that: they receive appropriate prenatal care; children meet age appropriate developmental milestones; children receive timely immunizations and well child care; they are effective parents; and they do not abuse or neglect their children.
In addition to the home visitation services offered, the Healthy Families Program hosts ongoing trainings in the Nurturing Parent and the Parenting with Love & Logic curriculums, Empowering Families Conferences are held twice annually in the spring and fall, as well as sponsoring the Circle of Friends Parent Support Group and the Mother’s on a Mission (M.O.M.) Teen Parent Support Group.
Consortium agencies provide services on a voluntary basis to any family that requires services who meet the eligibility requirements. Our target population includes families with Category III or IV Child Protective Service Involvement.
OCC-PP consortium members include Family Care Network, Northeast Guidance, Spaulding for Children and Youthville.
The Wayne 0 to 3 program is serviced by Spaulding for Children.
The Macomb 0 to 3 consortium members include Family Care Network, Judson Center, Northeast Guidance, and Spaulding for Children.
