A Grateful Send-Off

Sharon Corpolongo will be retiring at the end of January 2025 and even after she leaves her full-time position at Spaulding, she will always be part of our team.

Sharon started at Spaulding for Children in 2017 after a career with Dearborn Public Schools. She knew Spaulding was the right place for her when she first visited the agency. Sharon said the work and her colleagues over the years reassured her that Spaulding truly was a perfect fit for her.

“I just loved everyone immediately,” Sharon said. “Everyone goes out of their way. They are all so dedicated to our families and children.”

Sharon’s role was Office Manager where she managed administrative and purchasing duties for the office. But what she will miss most is her significant role in Spaulding’s events. She served on the planning committees and helped design and execute the numerous recruitment and retention events.

Most do not realize how many details go into the many events Spaulding produces for families. But Sharon does and she enjoyed them.

“I like planning events,” Sharon said. “The best part is interacting with the families and seeing the kids enjoy themselves, especially those who may be struggling with other challenges year-round.”

One of the large projects Sharon coordinates each year is the Holiday Wish List. This year donors signed up to provide gifts for 145 children. Most of the donors return year after year.

“Our donors are the best,” Sharon said.

Many will recognize Sharon’s husband Mike (pictured here) who is affectionately called “Mr. Sharon” as he helps at every event. The pair will continue to volunteer at events, as they enjoy spending more time with their grandson.

Thank you, Sharon! All the best in the days ahead to you and your family!

New this year: The “Like Mike” Award to honor the late Mike Quinn and all that he did for the agency. The Winner of the Like Mike Award was Sharon Corpolongo.

The ERCC presents this award in recognition of your volunteer efforts and level of commitment and dedication to the work of Spaulding for Children.”
