Kids of all ages desperately need downtime, family time and time outdoors all the time- but especially in the summer. Detroit Summer Fun Centers
Twelve Detroit schools become After School Fun Centers through a partnership with the City and Detroit Public Schools Community District Detroit. Programs run through August 12.

Read Together at Library
Besides a place to grab a book, libraries have lots of summer programs, including story times, educational classes and special events. The Detroit Public Libraries now offer a “Meet Up and Eat Up” lunch program. Check your local library for what’s happening.

Free Cycling Camp
The New Lexus Velodrome is the only Velodrome in US with three different fields of play: the world-class cycling track, a running track, and fitness studio. They host free, four-day camps for kids ages 3-17 until Aug. 30.

Walk on Detroit RiverWalk
Where else than the Motor City can you enjoy a carousel, splash pad, and a view of another country? You can also rent bikes and venture up the Dequindre Cut to Eastern Market.

Hike or Bike in Nature
The 13 beautiful Huron-Clinton Metroparks cover more than 25,000 acres throughout Southeast Michigan. Located in Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne counties, many have boat rentals, fishing, swimming beaches, biking and other activities year-round.

Ford Resource and Engagement Centers
Free activities happen each month at two locations – Southwest Detroit and Eastside locations. Activities include computer coding camps, STEAM education and more big fun, including a special Fiesta on July 28 in Southwest Detroit.
