Through a grant from the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan’s The Hope Fund, Manos sobre el agua y Fomentar el futuro will establish advocacy opportunities and support to other private child welfare agencies towards working with LGBTQ+ clients.Spaulding has been participating in quarterly meetings with approximately 20 other agencies to identify challenges and resources to help support youth in care who identify as LGBTQ+. Positive environments are important to help all youth thrive. However, the health needs of LGBTQ+ Youth can differ from their heterosexual peers.There are many resources from the CDC, other government agencies, and community organizations for LGBTQ+ Youth, their friends, educators, parents, and family members to develop, strengthen and support positive environments. To learn more, click here.The image above is courtesy of the City of Detroit.
