About the Program

The Kinship Care Resource Center is a program of the School of Social Work at Michigan State University. The KCRC serves kinship care families across Michigan by providing information and referrals to resources and services for caregivers and the children they are raising, and also offers support to professionals who serve kinship families.

Spaulding for Children partners with MSU as a contracted provider, employing a Kinship Care Navigator who works with the KCRC to help caregivers find support in the communities where they live.

KCRC Services Include:

  • Information and referral assistance from Kinship Care Navigators, including a navigator provided by Spaulding for Children, who connect caregivers to resources in their local communities.
  • A statewide list of local kinship support groups and a calendar of their meetings.
  • Trainings and workshops for kinship caregivers, community members, service providers, policymakers, and others.

The KCRC serves kinship caregivers who are related to, or have a family-like bond with, a child they are caring for full time without the parents’ assistance.
